Food Technical Manager

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Technical Manager to join our team and ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our operational excellence in a fast-paced, innovative environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including UK food laws and hygiene standards.
  • Manage internal and external audits, ensuring the business is always audit-ready.

Quality Assurance

  • Develop and maintain robust quality assurance systems to guarantee consistency in products and services.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and investigations into non-conformance issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational processes.

Supplier and Ingredient Management

  • Manage supplier approvals, specifications, and ingredient traceability.
  • Oversee product labelling compliance to meet legal and client requirements.

Team Leadership and Training

  • Lead and mentor the technical team to ensure they are trained in food safety and quality practices.
  • Deliver training programs across the business to promote a culture of technical excellence.

Client Interaction and Problem Solving

  • Collaborate with clients to address technical queries and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support new product development (NPD) with technical expertise, including reviewing specifications and processes.

About You:

Experience

  • Proven experience in a technical or quality management role within the food and beverage industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, regulations, and quality assurance frameworks (e.g., HACCP, SALSA, BRC).

Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
